A note on reading the evidence.
When improvement is expressed as a score, find out what a change in that score means. If several questions or experiences contribute to the total, examine whether separate results are also available. A combined score could conceal different patterns behind the same total. Ask how the report connects the score with an improvement that people would consider meaningful, and whether that standard was chosen in advance. A clear note for discussion names the experience being measured and the reason a particular change would matter, without allowing the word improvement to stand alone.
Questions to open a conversation.
- Which experiences or questions contribute to the score being reported?
- Could different patterns of change produce the same combined score?
- How was the standard for a meaningful improvement chosen?
